A Fairy Tale Christmas Carol – Dec. 7th, 14th, and 21st – Points North Theatre, The Woodlands area’s newest community theatre, presents ‘A Fairy Tale Christmas Carol,’ a fun-filled family take on the Dickens classic where fairy tale characters take over the roles of Scrooge, Marley, Fezziwig, the Cratchits, and more! The Woodlands Jazz in Concert – Dec. 15th– New/Now, the inaugural concert for The Woodlands Jazz, will feature The Woodlands Youth Jazz and The Woodlands Jazz Orchestra in a dynamic side-by-side concert. The Woodlands Jazz pairs jazz masters with elite-level high school musicians to create a musical setting unlike any other. Tickets are free! A Christmas Story, The Musical – Dec. 20th, 21st & 22nd – This musical, which received rave reviews on its Broadway run, is based on the movie classic that runs round-the-clock on television every Christmas. Set in the 1940s in the fictional town of Hohman, Indiana, the musical follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker and his quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas gifts—an Official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot Range Model air rifle. Rebuffed at every turn with a similar echoing response, Ralphie plots numerous schemes to achieve his desperate desire for the coveted BB gun. All the iconic scenes from the movie are here: Ralphie’s friend, Flick, getting his tongue stuck to the flagpole; his brother, Randy, getting dressed in his snowsuit; the bullies, Farkus and Dill; the leg lamp award; the bunny suit; the Chinese restaurant; Christmas dinner; and many others. Disney Frozen Jr., The Musical – Nov. 15 through Nov. 23rd– A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. “White Christmas” Concert presented by the Montgomery County Choral Society – Dec. 6th– The concert will be a tribute to Irving Berlin and his “White Christmas.” Some of the selections to be featured include “Happy Holidays,” “Sisters,” “Snow,” “Blue Skies,” and “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm.” The Montgomery High School Belles will be a part of this concert and they will dance to some of the numbers. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, The Musical – Dec. 6th through Dec. 21st– Beth Bradley’s church’s Christmas pageant is predictable every year — the angel choir wears too much lipstick, the shepherds are all in their father’s bathrobes, the minister’s son is permanently cast in the role of Joseph — hardly “four-star entertainment.” But when seasoned and authoritative pageant director Mrs. Armstrong breaks her leg, it is up to Beth’s inexperienced mother Grace to step in. A Christmas Carol: The Musical – Dec. 6th through Dec. 22nd– Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he’s forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful “Happy Christmas” before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him. Bad Bob’s Bash on the Lawn – Dec. 21st – Listen to holiday jams from nonprofit, The Jazz Connection, on the street. Enjoy finger foods and desserts, hot chocolate and wassil. The Nutcracker – Dec. 6th – 8th – Houston Repertoire Ballet (HRB), Houston’s premier pre-professional ballet company, celebrates its 24th season, beginning with its 21st annual performance series of The Nutcracker. Home for the Holidays in Old Town Spring – Nov. 9 through Dec. 22– The local shops and businesses of Old Town Spring come alive with the Spirit of the Season. Visitors will encounter strolling performers and festive exhibits. The shops and boutiques offer a variety of local unique holiday gift ideas and perfect treasures for everyone on your shopping list. The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center – Nov. 16 through Jan. 20th– The Woodlands Township invites families and friends to enjoy ice skating this season in the new 21,000-square-foot permanent multipurpose facility. This facility features ice skating in a main room with lighting, a state-of-the-art sound system, tables for parties and concessions. 37th Annual Lighting of the Doves Festival – Nov. 23rd – The Lighting of the Doves Festival is a long-standing tradition in The Woodlands that signifies the start of the holiday season in the community. Symbolizing peace during the holidays, the ceremonial illumination of the giant doves has attracted thousands of visitors each year. The Festival includes traditional and international performances, showcasing the cultural diversity of The Woodlands and holiday traditions celebrated around the world. Jingle Bell Run – Dec. 14th– Jingle Bell Run is a festive race for charity where participants can throw on their favorite holiday gear while racing to raise funds and awareness to cure America’s #1 cause of disability, the Arthritis Foundation.
