  • The Nutcracker – Nov. 27th – Nov. 29th – Vitacca School for Dance Woodlands presents The Nutcracker from November 27 – November 29 at The Woodlands Resort. This event is a dazzling holiday tradition for children and adults of all ages. Bring your family and friends on Clara’s magical journey from her home on Christmas Eve into the Land of Snow and Kingdom of Sweets.   • Glade Holiday Season Concerts: The Woodlands Symphony Brass – Dec. 6th – Glade Arts Foundation presents the Woodlands Symphony Brass Holiday Concert.   • HOLIDAYS IN THE WOODLANDS (A 1940s, USO-Style Revue!) – Dec. 19th – Points North Theatre, in conjunction with The Woodlands Township and The Woodlands Jazz Orchestra, is proud to present HOLIDAYS IN THE WOODLANDS, an original 1940s USO-style musical revue at The Woodlands Waterway.   • A Christmas Carol, The Musical – Dec. 10th – Dec. 20th – Ebeneezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he’s forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful “Happy Christmas” before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him. To comply with black box theater capacity guidelines and to avoid overcrowding, each show has predetermined and limited seating.   • Peter Pan, The Musical – Dec. 4th through Dec. 20th – Based on J.M. Barrie’s classic tale, Peter Pan is one of the most beloved and frequently performed family favorites of all time!   • An Evening in December – Dec. 4th through Dec. 20th – An Evening in December, the Owen Theatre’s Christmas season event featuring talented performers shining on stage! Instead of their usual mid-season production, they are offering audiences an intimate evening filled with music of the Christmas season to lift spirits and spread joy as 2020 draws to a close.   • Christmas Gift 2020 presented by the Houston Repertoire Ballet – Dec. 27th – Houston Repertoire Ballet (HRB), Houston’s premier pre-professional ballet company, is not able to present its annual performance of The Nutcracker.   • Mrs. Claus’ Gingerbread House Workshop – Dec. 16th & Dec. 19th – Enjoy special family time decorating individual gingerbread houses, while visiting with Mrs. Claus, delighting in Christmas story time, and creating lacing gingerbread men.   • Home for the Holidays in Old Town Spring – Nov. 14 through Dec. 25 – The 40th Annual Old Town Spring Home for the Holidays will be every weekend from November 14, 2020 to Christmas. The hometown holiday festival features a spectacular display of twinkling holiday lights, entertainment, family-friendly activities and photos with Santa every weekend!   • The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center – Nov. 20th through Jan. 18th– The Woodlands Township invites families and friends to enjoy ice skating this season in the new 21,000-square-foot permanent multipurpose facility. This facility features ice skating in a main room with lighting, a state-of-the-art sound system, tables for parties and concessions. The Ice Rink is located at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion multi-purpose building/event center on the northwest side of The Pavilion at the corner of Lake Robbins and Six Pines. Open Daily through January 18, 2021).   • CityPlace Tree Lighting – Nov. 29th – Bringing additional shimmer to CityPlace’s waterfront Plaza, a 35-foot Christmas tree will rise from the main pond, creating a dazzling beacon for the community. And as an equally dynamic complement to the floating centerpiece, local creative entrepreneur Steve Kopelman and his team of partner artisans at New Orleans-based Professional Scenic Services have been commissioned to fabricate the inaugural “gingerbread” village display on the lake system’s eastern banks, adjacent to the Houston CityPlace Marriott at Springwoods Village. A super-sized, fantasy version of the holiday classic, the installation is anticipated to expand each year. From the Plaza, guests will wind around a path dotted with oversized candy canes, popsicles, and gumdrops and cross under an entrance guarded by two gingerbread men before arriving at a raised clearing featuring cookie trees, a 16-foot high house and 12-foot windmill. Visitors of the evening’s complimentary festivities will also enjoy carolers and complimentary hot chocolate. For those unable to attend the kickoff, both the tree and gingerbread village will be on display through January 9 with free hot chocolate served on the Plaza every Thursday and Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.(CityPlace Plaza, Spring) FREE!   • 23rd Annual Lighting of the Angels – Dec. 1st – Start the holiday season off right with the lighting of the iconic angels of Shenandoah.   • Science Madness: Grow a Grinch Heart Science Experiment – Dec. 2nd – Inspired by the Christmas tale of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This experiment is a fun Grinch-themed twist on the growing balloon science experiment. The mixture of baking soda and vinegar creates a chemical reaction that releases carbon dioxide gas.   • Shadow Puppet Theatre: Llama Llama Holiday Drama – Dec. 3rd – Shadow Puppet Theatre presents ”Llama Llama Holiday Drama” by Anna Dewdney. Llama Llama wonders if Christmas will ever arrive while he and Mama Llama rush around getting ready for the holidays. Overwhelmed by all the hustle and bustle, his meltdown is met with his understanding mama’s hugs and love.   • Storybook Theatre: A Piñata in a Pine Tree: A Latino Twelve Days of Christmas – Dec. 4th – Storybook Theatre presents “A Piñata in a Pine Tree: A Latino Twelve Days of Christmas”  by Pat Mora. This delightful Latino twist on “The Twelve Days of Christmas” features a sweet little girl who receives daily presents from a secret amiga including a piñata in a pine tree, burritos bailando (dancing donkeys), and much more. Introduce your child to the wonder of reading and instill a love of books at an early age. Storybook Theatre combines your favorite childhood books with songs, rhymes and finger plays which are meant to promote early literacy and enhance language development.   • Giving Tree Installation Unveiling – Dec. 4th – The Market at Springwoods Village will unwrap its month-long giving tree installation, conceived by sought-after holiday styling firm Regina Gust Designs and benefitting local non-profits though an easy QR code donation point. The complimentary kickoff event will feature music, letters to Santa, cookie decorating, and a special guest appearance from Kris Kringle.   • Jingle Bell Run – Dec. 11-13th – **VIRTUAL EVENT** Jingle Bell Run is a festive race for charity where participants can throw on their favorite holiday gear while racing to raise funds and awareness to cure America’s #1 cause of disability, the Arthritis Foundation. Though the Arthritis Foundation’s 2020 Jingle Bell Run is going virtual, don’t let that stop you from jingling. Join the original festive race for charity from anywhere!   • Santa’s Morning Jingle: A Holiday Experience – Dec. 12th – Santa ALERT! Santa is making a very special stop at The Woodlands Children’s Museum with a few special guests! Gather the family for a sing-a-long toe-tapping live music performance with TCA Touring Children’s Musician Joe McDermott. Delight in your children’s anticipated visit with Santa, while our elves take their photo and place it in a holiday-themed frame. Enjoy our unique snow play area and pose for pictures with OLAF. Be sure to participate in our one of a kind Christmas art projects, in the Muse Art Bar, that are sure to be treasured. Enjoy our coffee and hot chocolate bar and special treats from our Candy Bar and a special gift bag from Santa’s workshop.   • Grand Chanukah Celebration and Menorah Lighting – Dec. 17th – This year’s event, celebrating the eighth and final night of the Jewish holiday, kicks off at 5:00 pm with a special guest: Rogers Park, the country’s only Hasidic folk-rock band. The entertaining and award-winning band from Chicago features a blend of folk and rock with a mix of original songs and parodies. Led by Rabbi Mendel Blecher, the lighting of a nine-foot, seven-branched menorah will take place at 5:30 p.m. with additional musical entertainment from Rogers Park following the ceremony until 6:30 pm. This marks the tenth year Market Street has hosted the Grand Chanukah Celebration in its Central Park for the local community. There is no admission fee required to attend.   • The Woodlands Farmers Market – Dec. 5th, 12th & 19th – The Woodlands Farmer’s Market at Grogan’s Mill was established in 2008 as “The Grogan’s Mill Farmer’s Market,” a weekly community event sponsored by the Grogan’s Mill Village Association. The Market adheres to high standards requiring that all agricultural and artisan vendors grow or produce the good they sell. Each of the prepared food vendors is required to use a commercial kitchen when preparing their product. You are welcome to bring your dog to The Woodland Farmer’s Market.
